engine cuts out every 1/1/2 months
I searched and couldnt find anything. I have a 91 4x4 3.0 and about every month and a halph while accelerating full throttle my engine cuts out and lose power to everything engine wise, tach drops down to 0 and lose all power (not headlights or stereo just motor power) it only lasts a split second and then returns to normal. Dont even have time to react and let off gas. The best way i can describe it is hold engine at about 4 grand in second gear and let off all the way and quickly mash gas pedal back to the wood. It jerks about that bad. Its my daily driver and does it about every month and a half. anyone elses yota replicated this

I have the same exact problem on my 91 3.0 5 spd, I have newer (6 months) plugs wires, filters, fuel filter, cap/rotor. Even put in Lucas fuel trearment and kept fingers crossed it would cure I posted about this awhile back but no luck. If you figure anything out PLEASE let me know, I even hoped that it would store a code in the OBD had it scanned and no luck!

that fuel treatment is no joke, good stuff! my buddy had a S10 Blazer that had been running crappy, shudders and sputters, he went and bought a bottle of Lucas at Napa, almost instantiations results! even felt more powerful, all the sputters cleared up within a couple days

Same here! I have a’91 3.0 5 speed 4x4. For me the cutouts have become random. They used to be more frequent. I believe it’s in the ignition system. For me I’ll be cruising down the road and the engine actually quits for a split second. The fact I’m moving and the key is still on restarts the motor. Think of rolling down hill and popping the clutch to start. It’s very quick but startling. I have 329k on this motor and have replaced most standard maintenance items per the FSM. Planning a rebuild soon, so I’ll dig into this issue more then.

Is your EGR still in ? Reason I ask is mine was stumbling on start up every so often(once a month or so and I figured it to be the fuel pump). The other day on start up it finally started acting up and it was not going to stop. I would gas it and it died. Plugged the EGR vacuumed and it’s back to normal. I’m in the process of deleting it.
