engaging choke? 22r
How do i engage the choke on my 22r? or does it do it by itself? doesnt start as good when its cold. i thought there was a trick to it or something like pushing the pedal all the way to the floor to engage it?

The choke should engage by it self, push the gas peddle down and that should engage the chock. If its sticking or not engaging, clean the linkage with some carb cleaner.

To engage the choke on a cold 22R with a factory Aisin carb, press the gas pedal fully to the floor two times. This is what my 1987 owners manual states, and it always worked for me

Yotaman is right; 2 times all the way to the floor when cold, then turn the ignition with your foot off the pedal. When warm, don't pump at all, but have the gas half way down when turning the ignition. Sometimes if it's really cold I need to pump mine 4 times, but it always starts immediately for me. Once it's been running for awhile it might idle a little high; if so tap the gas about halfway, this will reset the choke and drop the idle back down.
