emissions tests:bang:
so i just bought a lift kit and new shocks last week when an emissions test notice plops on my front door for my 4runner that i just bought and inspected like 5 months ago. on top of that it doesnt quite help that i have spent an arm and a leg already for this truck this summer basically comming down to making no profit for the time of the year that i make $bank$.
anyways down to the good stuff.........
i wouldnt be worried about the test if i didnt have a light blue cloud of smoke when i start her up and take off for the first time daily, were not talking a blinding smoke just a noticably cloud. after i drive it around a little bit the cloud goes away so i think its a leak somewhere.
what i wanna know is.........
1. is this cloud problem going to make my truck fail the test?
2. what do you think is the problem?
3. how much is it to fix?
4. should i hop back into the market and search for a new engine?(keep in mind for 3 and 4 tight budget since im still in school)
that sould be all folks help is greatly appriciated

I would just make sure your cat and o2 sensor are good, run a can of seafoam through and go for the testing.
that blue smoke is oil, you probibly have some valve leaks. Oil leaks down into the pistons then you start it up, and it burns it off. I wouldnt worry about it, just get the engine hot before you go in.

cat = catalytic converter its located on the exhaust pipe, go to your driverside door and look under at the exhaust, you should see it there.
Here is a picture, your cat might not look that purdy but
the o2 sensor is located just in front of the cat, its just a sensor that has the tip bolted onto the top of the pipe with a wire going up to the computer.
How many miles does your truck have on it?
If you know, where the cat and the o2 sensor ever replaced?
I know the o2 is recomended to be changed every 80,000miles or so.
As for seafoam, you can
1. run it through your intake via the brake booster (done it that method personally) and the pcv valve.
2. put it in your gas
3. put it in your crankcase (in your oil) but Im not sure if I would do this step.
