EGR valve
What are the advantages/disadvantages of running no EGR valve? My friend is running his 3.0 4Runner without one and I was wondering if it was a good idea.

I am curious to know if it would cause any ECM Problems with the 3.0 like maybe generating a O2 code , on mine I do not have the temp sensor but do have the O2 just past the cat. .

Aha, here I(we)go again...
Lot's of debate available around here on the subject. So "search" EGR delete or removal, blocking off EGR valve, etc. for the good stuff.
My straightforward opinion is this, GET RID OF YOUR EGR VALVE AT ALL COST. Your engine will thank you.
The only disadvantage is having to replace your EGR gas temp sensor circuit with a 10 ohm resistor(IIRC)so the computer throws no codes, IF your system has the sensor, some don't. I haven't heard of anyone here getting any other codes than the one for the temp sensor.

Egr
Nope mine has no way to generate one electrically , it would have to be stuck open and maybe it would generate a lean burn code from O2 , that was my question in effect if with it gone it may generate a rich burn code maybe for high rpm .
I am like you MudHippy - I want the EGR gone because I know it is just for emissions reasons they are doing it anyway , like the old smog pumps that dumped fresh air in the exhaust for lower ppm emissions ROFL .
