Anyone have info on putting a resisitor on the wires going to the egr temp sensor so that light shuts off????

Yup. If you put a 10k resistor in there and then pull the ECU fuse for a few seconds so the codes clear then the light won't come back on.

Did it to mine and the codes have been gone for a while now. Got the resistors at Radio Shack, .99$ for 10 of them although I only needed 1.

Was it a 10k resistor or a 1k? I thought I read it was supposed to be a 1k.

It sounds like they're using a resistor to bridge the two wires going to the sensor, which likely measures temperature as a result of a resistance change. If it's made out of a conductive material then an increase in temp causes an increase in resistance, but if it's made out of semi-conductive material, the reverse is true. It seems like putting a resistor on simulates a given temperature in the EGR (assuming the EGR is blocked off) to trick the ECU, but to know what the best number of ohms would require you to measure the resistance of the sensor with an ohm metre while it's subjected to changing temperatures, and to select one that simulates a temp that the ECU won't be mad about.

10K. I did this right before my emissions test (which produced results so good that I qualified for a two year sticker) so that the CEL wouldn't be on which is an automatic failure.

When I removed my EGR, I never found any temp sensor plugged in to anything. :confused:

the egr temp sensor is on 22re c, C being california models and is located on the firewall side of the intake on top its threaded into the intake and has 2 wires going to the wiring hatness. hope that helps. diablo
