EGR plate still leaking
So I finally got the gasket for the egr plate, got it on, and after running the truck I'm still leaking. Not as much, and it stopped about a minute after shutting the truck off, but now I figure I have to take the plate off and apply some RTV. Wishful thinking that I wouldn't need it.
How should I apply the sealant? Both sides of the gasket? Around the bolt heads?
Will the Napa high-temp RTV I work?
Thanks.

I've used ultra copper RTV on all my exhaust gaskets, except the manifold to head gaskets. It works fairly well.
However...
You shouldn't use RTV/FIPG on a 3VZE EGR valve gasket. Because the cold start injector is positioned so that it sprays fuel almost directly at it. RTV/FIPG and other silicone based sealants are not gasoline resistant(should not be used where it may come into contact with gasoline).
You should use a gasoline resistant sealant instead in that case, of which there are many.
