ECU Question 22re to 22rt??? (nervousness)
So have had this wiring problem and couldnt figure it out for forever...so i had a guy come out and look at it and in 10 min. he determined it was a bad computer (22RE)......now i found a ECU from a 85 to 87(?) 22R-T for $20...the computer also says NR where the old one says NE on it...not sure if that makes any difference, but i'm a little nervous to try this in the thing as it might blow something else that could be worse???
Oh ya, and called the dealership and there's only 2 brand new ECU's in the country, one in pennsylvania and one in cali...sigh...$1300 new and $900 reman core exchange...
Has anyone done this? (22RE to 22R-T) Does anyone recommend trying it and seeing what happens?
If anyone has a computer layin around i might just be interested. PM me if your askin a reasonable price and KNOW IT WORKS.
Thanks

correct me if i am wrong but the "T" would make it a turbo ecu. If that is so then it will run like crap if it runs at all. Search on EBAY. I just did a search and came up with 15 different ones for the 22re ecu.

Nervousness is good,,,,,,,
Sometimes.
I wouldn't try it because it's for a turbo.
And another reason...
I don't know exactly what year, but at some point in history there was a change from low resistance injectors to high resistance injectors, and depending on what you have in your truck, and what is supposed to be used with that ECU you could fry something.

I would SO trade you for a good 22RE ECM! I need a RT I finally diagnosed a bad ECM on my 86 RT, and can't find another one, and am currently unhappily running an RE ECM. Or, if anyone has an RT ECM for sale, please contact me! I see one on eBay from an 85 which says part# 35030, but mine says 35050, so I'm not sure how happy it would make it. Anyone?
