Anybody have these or know if they look good while on, "city lights"?? It appears this housing has an extra opening for a smaller bulb. The seller says it gives off a "halo" effect. I'm thinking this is like what some BMW's do with their headlights. I wonder if this would look good on our trucks.

yes... plug and play. kinda. the plug was wired backwards. (i'm guessing the china kids cant read yet) took a few minutes with a volt meter to figure out what was going on, and swap pins and it was good to go. just like installing a new headlight.

any link to these or a brand etc? I'm interested in improving my 92 runners lights. The lights on this are already 100x better than my 92 truck which has the old sealed beams.

right here http://www.powerfuluk.com/products/t...-kit-pair.html
looks like its 95 pounds(about $145) and the shipping is where thay get you at 38 pounds(about $60). it doesn't come with bulbs but you can get some good ones from your auto store for 20 bucks. oh ya then the wire off ebay, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/9004-...item3a504d4280
so theres another $27.
when i was getting this i didn't know what i was getting into. all in all about $260, but they look sick once their on and no body else has them.

Just bought the H4 conversion kit from rimiinc on ebay. I went with the DOT approved 6054 kit with a 100/55W bulb upgrade, for a total of $47 shipped. I should be getting them early next week, and I'll post pictures and a review.

I bought the DOT ones, with the 100/55 W "white" bulbs. First of all, should have gone with the "blue" bulbs. Also, I was not happy at all with the DOT high beam pattern. (corrected to high beam, meant high, typed low)

So, after debating a bit, I bought the Hella E-Codes with 100/80 "blue" bulbs. Very happy with that. Sold the other setup to a buddy for $40.

It's interesting you say that Mike, because you said earlier in this thread:

Quote:
On Low beam they are vastly superior. Far more infill and spread. A huge difference.
And:

Quote:
They are definitely better on low beam.
You did complain about the high beam spread, so is that what you meant?

Or did you change your mind about the low beams as well as the high beams?

We'll find out either way for me. I don't have the cash to spend on the E-codes, and really I just need some new headlights because one is starting to burn out. Couldn't justify the cost for stock lights when I could get these guys for a few more dollars. I'll post some pictures afterwards and we'll see if I have the same experience. I hope not!

The e-codes are defantly the housings to get for the 200m lense trucks.

The low beam is so nice, its not the stupid spotty DOT pattern, its a very very smooth even pattern (looks like a blanket of light) with a great cutoff that won't blind on comming traffic.

The high beam is great!

The 100/80w Xeon blue bulbs are probibly the best hella has.. They work great in all weather but at night in the rain or snow. But as most of you know, yellow lights are what you want for those conditions.

Thats why I have 3rd set of forward facing lights, yellow fogs just for that..

Sorry, I mis-typed that, should have proof read it. The low beam was better, the high beam was less than impressive.

I was not sure if it was the the lense or the bulbs, so, rather than spend more money I went ahead and bought the Hella stuff, as a guy on E-bay was selling the lenses for $90. I also bought the Hella 100/80 blue bulbs. The high beam pattern with the Hella E-codes is outstanding and the 80W low beams are amazing. I adjusted them a bit lower and had a buddy drive my rig while I drove his in the opposite direction. It is not blinding to other drivers in the opposite direction, no worse than most of the Euro cars on the rode.

Thanks for catching my error,

Mike

No worries man, it's important to me just because I almost never use the high beams, and I have some fogs I'm installing which should accompany the high beams if they are poor. So I wanted to make sure at least the low beams would be better, and by all accounts they will be. $90 + bulb is actually within my range, perhaps I will end up getting the Hellas too...

The lights should be in on Friday; sooner than I thought. Will hopefully install over the weekend.

1) Putting HID's in anything except a proper projector is dangerous. I've been there, done that, and it's not worth it. If you're going to run HID's in your truck, grab some crappy ebay housings and retrofit some FX35 projectors in them. (bixenon, and a PROPER cutoff)

2) Rewiring the headlights and good bulbs makes a world of difference, even on the crappy stock lighting. Do it. No, seriously, just do it. If you can crimp and use a DVOM, you can make your own wiring harness for about $25-$30 using good parts. http://www.parts-express.com/home.cfm is your friend. Grab some relay harnesses, sealed Tyco relays, good crimpers (ratcheting), and some wire. The tools will put the cost over my aforementioned price, but it's well worth it. Or you can just solder, but a proper sealed crimp is better.

3) The addition of a simple diode will allow you to have quad beams. (lows stay on with highs- great for backroad/country driving)- works great!

4) Cibie's are way better housings, but the Hella E-codes are decent.

HIDs are in the H4 diamond housing.,..

Looks good! Which kit did you use?

I'm selling my Hella 500s and converting my sealed beam headlights over to H4 HIDs. If that isn't enough I'll look into either Hella 4000s HID or Lightforce HIDs.

Is there a write up on how to do this? Would this reduce the life of the bulb? I know there are kits for the newer chevy's that will enable the low beams to be on with the high beams but i never new you could do it for our toyotas.

Thanks-Blake
