easy to steal?
I just msg'd a friend of mine , saying how i was about to pick up an 88, in all
origional condition. he bascially said no thanks, that you could steal these in about 10 seconds!!!! please someone tell me it aint so, and what would make this so easy to steal, if it is true...

If your a thief and know what your doing you can steal anything fast. If someone wants it bad enough they will get it.
No, you can't steal it easy. Not like a 2nd gen ranger...just pop off the antenna and stick it underneath the door handle and pop...doors open! haha

yeah, you might be able to hot wire / steal one in 10 seconds, but there's no way you could make a ford ranger, or chevy colorado, or isuzu amigo for that matter...

ok guys to tell you the truth i can take any 1st gen out there in about 10 secs not going to say how or with what but put it this way if i got pulled over in it the cop would have no idea it was stolen unless it was reported trust me i accidentally do it all the time in my rig

Ahhhh, Abe is rare form this evening. Go get the 88 already. Anthing is easy to steal, if you know what your doing. Thats why you install a "kill" switch in line withthe power wires for the fuel pump the minute you get the truck home. If you install a kill switch, and you flip it when you get outta the truck, whoever's trying trying to steal your truck will need to tow, or flatbed your rig, after it stalls on the thief a few away from where it was parked to begin with....

he just gave me a few details, has to do with the windows on the back cover for starters, okay, then a kill switch it is, plus a brake lock i think, plus an interior sensor.

Someone tried to steal my uncle's old diesel pickup...but they didn't know crap about diesels so they couldn't get it started. The next night he left a bear trap on the driver's seat. Hasn't been attempted since.

The reason some peeps say they are easy to steal is the old ones keys often fit in each others. Ive helped a fellow toyota driver out who locked his keys in his truck, just used mine to unlock it. Sometimes they work in the ignitions too, I could take my buddies truck and drive it too with my keys lol

thats the trick, making it take time to steal. the longer it takes, the more likely the thief is going to be noticed and/or caught. park in well lit areas, lock your doors, install a kill switch, use the club... you get the idea.

we had to do it to get my moms off of her car when she got mugged and her keys were stolen...
