Easy lifting for 94 runner

Whats an easy and cheap way to lift a 94 runner to fit 33's? help me out. just got this beast a month ago and i want to make it trail ready by September.

Well, the first question is:

Do you want it trail ready?

or

Do you want an easy and cheap lift?

Tough to do both...

Search around, Cheap and easy can be anything from a Body Lift, to a Spacer Lift of some sort.

Really TRail REady can be coilovers and custom leaf spring packs.

depends on what kind of trails, if your doing "stockish" 4X4 trails and keeping it mild, then a spacer lift will work, at least for now.

OME is a good option to look into also.

trail ready for me would be something that wouldn't cause me problems down the road. my truck probably wont be doing any hardcore crawling, but i want it high enough so i wont have a problem in an area where stock hight might. and yea I'm trying to keep the stock ride without any major modifications like new brake lines n such. i had a 99 last year and i was looking into OME lifts online, i guess it just left my mind. thanks for the reminder, i know where to look now!

i was also looking around other threads and i read that a lift is NOT needed to squeeze 33's...is this true??

you can squeeze in 33x10.50" tires stock but to bump up to the wider 12.50" you need a little lift.

Im running a 33x12.50 mud terrain with a 3" body lift. VERY little rubbing after I did a little trimming.


Depending if you can put it in yourself, you could put in a 3" body lift for under 200 bucks.

my advice would be to get: OME901 rear coils, 1.5" SDORI BJ spacers in the front, with OME shocks all around. This will give you clearance for the 33's while keeping a great ride

and where can i find this magical lift for under $200? i have a car lift available for my disposal, with a mechanic as a best friend...i'm more than capable to work on my truck.

Ball joint spacders with a torsion bar crank front/FJ80 rear springs. That should give you enough lift for those tires and still be trail worthy. Make sure you take off the sway bars.

Performance accesories 3" body lift.

I got mine for 150 CAD from the local parts store, but since you are in the us you can get them online for around 125 USD

A lift would've been much easier We did it in the driveway with a jack and a few peices of wood.

Want it trail ready?

Spend the money on lockers instead of lift.

33x10.50 will fit with no lift and no rubbing if you use the factory backspacing.

My setup is 'cheap' for just lift I spent $0 on T-Bars, $120 for BJ Spacers and shocks, $80 for Eibach coils, $90 for Coil Spacers and 90 for shocks. I can fit 33s for just about anything, I got the rear to touch the other day but someone has rear ended me and it pushed the fender up a little.

Yup.

Driver is more important than the truck....

IMHO stuff 33's on there on an OEM back spacing.
Wheel it.
Learn its limits.
Then think about lift.

no lift = FREE

budget lift is cranked torsions (about 1") and rear coil spacer.
IMHO its cheap but you get what you pay for.

it goes up in $$ from there all the way to
SAS
or
LT

If you are set on a lift I would definatly look into the ome lift. I have nothing but good things to say about it. It has been working great for me and I beat the snot out of my runner.

Well then simply do a 2" bl.
That'll work perfectly for 33's and there are advantages that the bl provides that a suspension lift doesn't or can't provide.
A bl is relatively inexpensive and won't affect your ride quality in the least.
The 33's, on the other hand, will affect your ride quality.
Without regearing you'll have a noticeable decrease in "power" on road (and off road. If you have an auto tranny the offroad loss won't be bad or perhaps not even noticeable).

what is the stock back spaceing and will 33 12.50 15 fit with no lift?

Stock b/s is ~4-3/4":



Likely need 1"-2" of lift to fit 12.50s:

on stock wheels some folks have fit 10.50 wide tires on stock rims.

This truck has 33x12.50 on 15x8 rims (4.75" b/s) w/ about 1-2" of lift:

Go with Ball joint spacers, coil spacers(or leveling kit with longer coils) and a 1 inch body lift. Give the torsion bars a little crank, and you should clear the 33's with room to spare...or at least with no rubbing, or trimming.
