Drive shaft play

hey guys how much play do you guys that have a lock rite have in your drive shaft? I had one installed out back a week ago and it seems like a lot but the guy at the shop said its because of the locker not the backlash and that this is normal. i just want to double check with you guys, better safe than sorry.

Let me rephrase this for what I think your asking.

For those that have a lockright installed, how much play do you have in your drive shaft?

Play as in which way?
Are you talking about rotational play?
I've never actually measured the amount of play there is yet, I've never worried. It was the same with my stock gears and with my 5.29's.

Chalk it up to normality.

i have an 69 gmc 4x4 that will roll about 4 to 6 inches before the slack was taken up. the only time it caused the lock right a problem was when i made a hard turn in a parking lot.the drive line would sound like it was coming out. if i remember right it is suppose to be no more than a half inch of play.

Sorry, yeah rotational play. The only reason I'm concerned is because I can feel that it is greater than it was prior to having the locker installed. Right now its about an inch to an inch and a half of rotation. Scuba, when's the next time you're going to cleghorn?

the 1/2 inch slack is under ideal conditions. and i could be wrong about the amount, it has been over 10 years since i installed mine. the less slack in the drive train the smoother the locking and unlocking action.

i have about 1 1/2 to 2 inches of rotational play on mine. took some getting use to. i also get some gnarly lurching when turning corners if i dont work the clutch/gas just right. not sure if its par, but ive been dealing.
