I got some cash for christmas and well ive been eyeing the downey coil springs for the rear of my 4runner since i bought it a year ago and well i had some questiong that im sure i could search for a few hours to find but figured someone could give me a short sweet answer fast.

they coils come in a normal version and a HD version for towing. my ? is which is best? i dont really do towing but which is best for wheelin? the softer spring or the stiffer one?

MY biggest ? is will these spring sag after a year like the stock ones? i want a spring i can set in there and FORGET about it... i dont want my saggy wagon to sag ever again.

last question is will the stock shocks work with the 1.5 inches of lift? i dont want to buy a new shock then have to buy another new shock when i put a coil spacer in rather just keep the stock shock and buy new shocks after the ride height is permenant.

Definitely get the HD coils. I made the mistake of buying the regular downey coils, and they started sagging after 18 months. They were even softer than the OEM coils. Don't buy 'em.

I switched to the HDs, and the ride improved 10 fold. They aren't too stiff or too soft. They are perfect. I've had the HDs for years and they haven't started to sag at all.

I've been running the stock length shocks with no problems.

Get the HD's. I even have a set I'll sell ya cheap. Stock shocks are fine. I suggest going with a quality shock at the same time because you have to disconnect the shocks to install them anyways. Shocks are like brakes..it doesn't pay to go cheap.

yea i wanna get some OME shocks.. or maybe some nice ranchos but i wanna do the springs install them the back will sit a lil high probably right? so ima put some BJ spacers in the front but will tha alone let me run 33's? which is my goal. if it will i wont need the coil spacers and can get shocks earlier

That's my goal as well. Yes you should be able to run 33's with BJ Spacers. Some guys run 33's stock. I plan on getting the BJ spacers with my new coils on the way right now and then getting 33's sometime in the summer when my current tires wear out. But yes with BJ Spacers up front and Downey HD 1.5" lift coils in the back you will be level and able to run 33's no problem. But I would recommend shocks for both the back and the front. Check 4wheelparts.com they do the Super Shocking deals all the time for 4 shocks.

My 4runner got a set of the HD (progressive) less than a year after it was bought by my grandpa. mine are just now starting to even think about sagging and still ride very nice.

No me and my buddy just jacked the car up and rested the frame on jackstands and dropped the axle and unbolted everything to get the axle far enough....no big deal and no need for spring compressors.

A compressor will make life easier but it's not totally necessary.
