This may just show what a dope I am For my 92 Xcab PU: I wanted to put an LED replacement in for the stock "pill" type dome lightbulb (actually going for "true red" so I can look like I am in a submarine (!)). Anyhow, got some from online vendor (Sixity, on E-bay), and they won't work. Seem like right length, but won't come on. Bulbs look OK, and wondering if it is an amperage or resistance issue or similar?

Do you have them installed the right way? LED's are diodes, so they will only work if the polarity is correct.

i dont like the little leds in color they dont put off enough light and you find yourself looking in the dark for the one thing you want swearing and getting loud with your truck lol but the true white leds are really bright i like them to bad i dont have any lol

I've had good luck with the Superbright LEDs festoon bulbs. My only suggestion is to use white, because the blue ones I'm using make it nearly impossible to read anything like printed text.

12v leds from radio shack work just as good.... for a fraction of the price. just make sure you dont get the blinking ones, lol.... unless you want it to blink.

OK, so GSG gave sage advice. The funny thing is that prior, I had tried about 3 or 4 times with 2 bulbs, and obviously somehow managed to get in the wrong way each time. DOH again. I do like the red. Not sure if bright enough, as suggested above.

red lights are the best..
your eyes will never fatigue under red..(hence..all BMW's have red displays...and my 3 series has fiber optic dash lights...)...

A clarification likely in order. The reason for red has next to nothing to do with eye "fatigue." Red is used because the rods of the retina are minimally sensitive to it, unlike the cones, which sense color. Thus when exposed to red night at night, the rods don't bleach out --> thus you can still see (unlike when exposed to white light, etc). Eye fatigue is based on ocular muscles, and can be affected by brightness, motion, light source & frequency.
