does adding leaves to a sagging spring pack stiffen the ride?
my leaf springs are sagging all to hell. they're sitting flat on the overload, and go w-shaped if i load the bed with a lot of weight. the ride is really rough and the rear end bounces off the road all the time.
if i add leaves to my springs from a junkyard leaf pack, will it help with the stiff ride as well as ride height, or will it only help ride height? should i just go get my current packs re-arched?
thanks.

I had the same prob. a few months ago. Got an add-a-leaf and re-arched at the local spring shop. If you add a leaf without re-arching chances are they'll be flat in no time. I paid about $300 for the whole deal...not great but wish I had gotten a whole new pack...or find a better deal for re-arching. It was $60/leaf then labour for re-arching. I was gonna go 2" Downey's but would have been $$$ cause of U.S dollar then duty tax and shipping...might be good now considering the dollar is awesome and you're in Hali. Hope that helps.

where's a good place to order stuff like that from that's US-based? i can't find any of them that'll ship to canada, although now that the dollars are on par it's much more attractive...
edit: also, i don't really need lift springs as much as i need stock height springs. i've already got a set of bigassed shackles, and an extra 2" of lift in the rear will look silly.

Downey's, so I've heard and much read about sag an inch or so after a bit. So, 2" would be more like 1" and for the price $199 for a pair of complete packs I wouldn't mind an extra inch or so. There not much else out there for cheap unless would can fab up some junk yard chev's or mazda's or are lucky enough to find a toyota p/u there with decent springs. Do you still have your stock shackles? Put them back on, order right from Downey and you have completely new springpacks with max 2" of lift...most likely 1"...or get new factory length shackles and sell me your bigassed shackes....just joking...but seriously. Damn I wish I'd done that in the first place but I couldn't wait they were so bad.

i had to cut the old shackles off, so the only option there is to order new short shackles.
maybe i'll just put up with looking like a ford for a while
