Differential Interchange
Got tired of spending days looking for a parts interchange, so I am going to ask.
Found a V6 diff out of a 2000 runner Will it work in my 1988 rear axle?
I know up to '95 will but could not find out about the '95.5 and newer.

If it is elec locker then yes otherwise it is too big. Could probably use the complete rear diff with some minor welding. It likely has better brakes and such attached that you could use.

you're both wrong. ALL 4runners came with the regular 8". the tacoma/tundra on the other hand have the "big" 8", also sometimes called the 8.4.
in other words, it'll fit.
