Did a couple things to my 4Runner this weekend!

I've been thinking about painting the door handles for a while and i finally got around to it, i still want to paint the mirrors but I'll have to do that when i go back to school. I also made a cargo box thing, not nearly as fancy as some of them out there but for now it serves it's main purpose. Let me know what you think!

Before:

After:

And here's the cargo area before:

Let me know what you think!

Looks awesome. I think your next mod should be herculining the box along with your cargo area to match the exterior of the truck

Looks good! Does the sub box interfere with you rear view at all?

Let me know how the paint holds up on those handles. I've wanted to do that for quite a while too, but the only thing is that I think the paint might flake from all the hand oils and dirt. If it holds up well, I'll jump on board next!

Thanks guys! Nix, not a bad idea, i might have to try that! I'll keep you updated on the paint holding up or not, hopefully it does! And the sub box does interfere with my rear view a little but not too bad, i can see everything behind beyond about 20 or 25 feet, so it's not too bad.

Thanks! No, I've thought about that but I'm not sure if I'd like the feeling of herculiner every time I open my door, so i used rustoleum textured paint, I used the same stuff on my MC rear bumper too and that's held up really well, so I thought I'd give it a try.

Did you scuff the chrome before you painted?

Ya i scuffed it with 80? I believe and then again with 150, then cleaned the surface then put 2 coats of primer on then 3 coats of the rustoleum....not sure if that's how I should have done it but that what I did to the bumper.

Yeah, 80 has enough bite to it to hold paint on there. Chrome isn't necessarily the most hospitible surface for paint, but if you did all that work to it, I'd be pretty shocked if it chipped, or peeled off. Looks Good, I'm not sure if I could get away with doing that to mine, though. It's black, and the chrome helps me see where I'm parked at night time.

I understand that feeling completely, I had a black '94 before this '95 and that chrome helps a lot when looking for your car at night!

It gives it character. I guess my chrome bumper, and chrome grill guard might make up for the door handles, though. Have you thought about doing the back side of the mirrors?

Cut that sub box in half and put the on either side of the cargo area. I would definately not want to drive around with that huge thing in my mirror all day.
Are you planning on doin any suspension? Truck looks like its in good shape.
Nice job
