I'm hearing a consistent shhhk shhhk shhhk sound. It's not a rock or nail in the tire because it doesn't click. It doesn't clang like straight metal on metal, but more of a rubbing sound.

It's related to either the driveshaft or tires because it increases in frequency with speed, almost to where it's a constant whir when on the highway. Also, it's like the sound is directly related to a spot on a tire, and whenever the tire rotates past a certain position, the spot makes the sound, with the sound frequency directly correlated to speed of the tire.

I believe it's coming from the rear of the truck, from what I can hear putting my head out of the window while driving. I've never heard this sound before, but it's consistent, so I'm worried it may just be something getting ready to go.

Any ideas?

Put it up on jack stands to isolate the sound and go from there.

Maybe a wheel bearing? Or I guess an axle bearing if its coming from the rear.

Try to duplicate it while the truck is stationary. If you can do that, it'll be easy to figure out what it is. . .

Quiet enough that closed windows and less than average volume on the radio would likely drown it out. The heat plus no AC plus gaping hole on the passenger side makes the outdoors a lot louder while driving.

Sorry to ramble: it's not overly loud.

I'll be sure to do this as soon as I can.. Sadly, I won't have access to my tools (aka stands) until Easter weekend, so my diagnosis will have to wait.
