Dexron ATF

Hi All

Is any dexron atf better than than the other?
There is a big difference in price (1.99-$5.00 per qt)
What would you recommend?
What about a high mileage atf for a 1992 T4R V6 Auto w/135,000 mi?

Thanks for your advice!
Martin

I use Toyota ATF. It's reasonably priced, and it's what Toyota recommends.

Better than what? Toyota Fluid? Type F fluid?

btw its Toyota 4Runner, not T4R.....GAH!

135 is pretty low miles, considering! No reason to use high mileage stuff, its just high priced gobbldey gook.

A buddy of mine at work told me atf can be used to clean the inside of engines. He says replacing the oil with atf and idling for 15 minutes followed by an oil flushand fill will scrub out an older higher mileage motor. I haven't tried i yet, anyone ever heard of such a thing? If so, would it screw up my turbo?

I dont know about using it in place of oil, but at one point my throttle body was sucking in ATF from the p/s pump through a vacuum line (wierd, I know, but it happened)... did that for about 3 weeks before we realized what was happening. Started tearin down the engine (we were all set to do rings because of the ungodly smoking) and realized that there was red fluid all over inside the engine. So now, at 202k miles, yeah, my engines sparkly clean inside.
