dealing with smog...

i tried smogging my 4runner yesterday...and ran into issues. it was idling at 1500 rpms. which is about 700 above where it should be. the smog guy shorted out the diagnostic port and my check engine light gave the air intake volume code. so we checked my air intake, and sure enough, the elbow piece going from my intake tube to my throttle body is broken. causing a huge air leak.

has anyone else had this problem?

i realize i could just go get a new piece, but my town is rather short for toyota used parts resources. and i dont have another source of transportation.

has anyone rigged something up to replace that piece? and worked for smog?

this is the rubber hose with the breather line going into the valve cover on the 3vze engine
