Dash-pot question?
O.K, I'm having some idling problems but I noticed that my dash pot doesn't touch a damn thing...if it is supposed to prevent the throttle from slamming shut how does it do its job if all it does is take up weight and not touch anything? When I am in first gear and I let off the gas it will jerk like hell like you hit the brakes and let off really fast. Thanks

i know, the best way to find out is to see if theres slack in your throttle cable, if theres slack you know its good cuz its not sticking and its where it goes. i think its just another useless gadget really

yeah, there is definitely not slack in my throttle cable. There was before but I fixed it. I just heard that the dash-pot helps from keeping the throttle slammed shut because my throttle will stay the same if I let off (like 25mph 3rd gear) and it will just keep going then all of a sudden it will jerk hard and start slowing down. I don't think my compression has anything to do with this. I was just hoping someone could say, yes, it's supposed to touch, or, NO, it doesn't matter.

Here's a little inspection proceedure from the 93 FSM: http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...34throttle.pdf

There is typically a set screw in the linkage that you can adjust in or out to contact the DP plunger. See if you have an empty screw hole nearby:

Sorry, but I have no clue as to what your talking about. So, look for a screw hole? Where?
I've never looked at the 3.0 dashpot setup, so can't be more specific.

Ah, I got it...I am downloading the Adobe as we speak. I thought I already had done that but I guess not.
Yeah, it looks threaded. So, where do I get this screw? Both the pictures above your post show where the screw is missing.

yeah, I need to adjust my tps...I think anyway. The 4crawler tps thing seems so damn complicated so I might just look at my manual and try it that way.

Looks like you're missing the throttle stop screw, as well. You've seen the hole for the DP screw. Well, next to the DP there's another hole that will also be threaded. The stop screw is supposed to be there so you can adjust how much the throttle plate will remain open or shut when you let off the throttle or just when at idle. Quite possibly the reason for your idle problem.
