dash board removeal?
Hey guys. I have a 1990 runner and like most who have one of these the dashboard has cracks. My runner is in really good shape but the dashboard is cracked pretty bad. The dash is sort of in two sections. The hard plastic part in the back and the kinda soft vinyl part in the front. It looks like the soft part might be removable without totally dismantling the entire interior. I want to take this part out and repair the cracks and apply new vinyl over top. Has anyone ever done this? Does anyone know if this section comes out somewhat easily? Well, I'm sure it won't be easy but if it comes out without taking everything apart I really want to do this. I'll post my progress with pics. Thanks again!

The "soft" part is not designed to be removed from the rest of the panel. That doesn't mean someone with a sharp X-acto can't do wonders. If you go that route, you must post photos here.
Good luck!

Hhmmm... Not "meant" to be removed? Lol. Those words don't mean anything to me. Thanks for the input guys. I might end up doing a "in truck" repair then. Shouldn't be too difficult, just not as convenient. I'll be sure to post pics. I just need to find the same color and some good adhesive!

I think I could do a pretty good job. I have some(a little) experience in apostury. Maybe I'll get into it next weekend. Finding the correct adhesive is gonna be key. The only problem area I'm concerned about is the back edge. I'll have to see about the likelihood of being able to tuck the new vinyl in between the seam that's there. Stretching the vinyl around the vent on the right side and the other edges shouldn't be a problem.
