CV boot clamp broken and missing

CV boot clamp broken and missing
Is there a way to replace this clamp without removing the axle ? would a large zip tie work or is there something better ?

there are reboot kits but they all look like they suck. (the ones you can slap on without removing the axle)
just did both sides in my taco, which vehicle are you doing?
I would yoink it and either buy an OEM re-boot and do yourself or just get a reman. Toyota remans are only $125 from 1sttoyotaparts.com
removing/replacing the axle is not very difficult, takes about an hour depending on tools and whatnot.

I think the answer is: try it. If you don't like the vibration, fix them the right way. (You may need to anyway; once the clamp comes off you will probably be throwing grease and sucking up dirt. Which will kill the CV joint.)

gotcha, thought it was split. I wouldn't trust a zip tie, either try to find just a clamp at Toyota or find a hose clamp that will fit (most are too wide) and snug it down; I highly doubt the imbalance is significant enough to do anything, the shaft is pretty heavy and I'm pretty sure it won't cause any vibration or anything.
another option would be a couple loops of heavy gauge fencing wire or similar, maybe even coated or taped up to make it bigger diameter (too keep from cutting into the boot) and use pliers to twist the ends until it's snug and fold the twisted part back over itself. This will require a little finesse but would certainly hold up OK if you get it at the right 'tightness'.

Your local auto parts store, NAPA, etc. will have a replacement band that is designed to be put on WITHOUT removing anything. They come in a small or large size and have hooks to approximate the size before crimping the ears.
