i've heard the red coolant is only to be used in certain vehicles it ate through some lines on somebody's car around here..thats where i heard it from...also heard from a dealer that its only to be used if your vehicle calls for it..its a little different than the regular green stuff...of course it could be the same thing..just made by a diff company..that put red dye in it..idk...the red stuff we got around here (the name is not coming to me at the moment) is bad news for anything other than like the NEW cars and trucks...just a thought..probably a stupid post here by me.lol..just seen the red coolant..remembered the hell one of my friends went through when it effed up some stuff on his car...

The red coolant is infact OEM toyota brand coolant. You are suppost to run it to keep electrolisis down. Green stuff is junk.

okay, i got good coolant,
but what about this smokey stuff.

why would it smoke like a coal factory, and not lose coolant or oil...
and have both coolant and oil look great (recent oil change)

cracked cylinder>
head gasket>
warped head>
water PUMP >

starts right up, and drives, but is smokey, plenty of power.
help

Does the smoke decrease after the truck is warmed up?
Have you done a cooling system pressure test?

Are you loosing coolant Dan?

Sounds to me like the dreaded 3VZ head gasket. My parents 95 did the exact same thing.

i know enough that smoke is bad.

but, i dont get it.
i dont smell sweet-ness (coolant) and its not depleting.

i know its gotta be either head gasket, or waterpump...
but
after 35minutes...not a cup of water is needed...wtf..?

anyways
is headwork the best thing...?
its summer, and after this weekend (pitting for the pro3) i will be able to tear it apart and replace it.
but
i want to know,
should i just trade it in ? or fix it ?

Well, have the normal tests done. Compression, leak down, etc etc. That will give you a baseline to start with.
