Crazy Craigslist Prices!!
Will since my runner was stolen, i have been keeping an eye on craigslist for my truck as well as a 2nd gen for less than 6k (by the way why do poeple try to list a 92 4runner with 250k mi for $8999?) any who, i found this little tresure...
http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/car/409782827.html
i don't get it, sure it has a new engine, but 5500? Why do people think they can sell their trucks for over 2x blue book?

That amount of sag has got to rise the price some. Helps prove the point that it is a genuine Yota.
On a more realistic note, they probably just dumped close to 3K into the engine, and they want to make all that back plus the actual worth of the truck.

Sometimes it seems that people see one truck sell for a certain amount and figure theirs has got to be worth more than the previous one.
Linuxrunner: sorry to hear about your truck..I am out in Beaverton and am always trolling craigslist for stuff for my '81, if you want PM the info on your truck and if I see something I can let you know...
Not sure if the mileage is right, but this doesn't look too bad:

Hey LinuxRunner...sorry to hear about your truck. If you have not heard about it try using CraigsHelper.com. It really helped me locate a good deal no my 4runner. (95's limited, leather, power everything, 112K, no rust in the paint....all for $3,800)

Blue book isn't always accurate - especially on items like the FJ40 and 1st gen Broncos. The 1st gen 4runner is going to go that way eventually..
The price on that runner was pretty darn high, but a 1st gen in good condition in TX, even with 200k miles can sell well into the 3000-4000 range.

they get snapped up like hot cakes. and the people that have them do not sell. everybody is trying to avoid the 3 slow like yourself. 94,95 is still in the daily driver range while 90,91's are starting to be rough for daily driving. mike

sometimes I just shake my head .. some of you guys have been reading Pirate to much .
who cares what the blue book .. or black book says.. what ever ... it is worth what people will pay . think this Mojave https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f114...ghlight=mojave in this post is only worth $600.00 -$800.00 ? I think NOT .. I have a feeling when and if he ever sells it , it'll be worth a whole lot more then that .
Thing is .. muscle cars are popular because most of the people driving up the prices , were guys who drove them when they were young , and got rid of them . or guys who couldnt afford them nice ones in the first place , and now they want them again .. and now can afford them .
I personally think toyota 4x4 trucks will one day be there as well .. seeing as how popular they have been since hitting the market in 1979.
just my 2c

well I have just learned that it dose not matter what you pay for a truck don't pay more than what insurance will payout if your truck gets totaled the next day.
lucky for me I payed just the right amount for my 4runner
so when buying a stock truck or 4runner find a average price and don't pay more than that.

good points, but i don't compare a 94-95 toyota 4runner with a collectors car (around here anyway) i understand that some places they are hard to find in good condition thus the high prices. But this does not seem to be the case around here, yesterday a guy claimed his 93 was worth 1500 more because it had a 22re, i agree re's are harder to find in 2nd gens, but not 1500 harder.
