crashed my 93 2-door 4Runner!
I bought my 2 door 93 4Runner sr5 V6 automatic new. Had all factory options except towing, plus all dealer options.
ALL maintenance done on Toyota schedule. Records. No rust. Excellent condition.
Then an idiot hits it, wife driving, and it gets totalled. Wife shook up but ok.
Insurance says $6,000 to fix so offers me $3,500 to write it off.
I said no, I wanted $5,000. They'll get back to me tomorrow.
Any recommendations?
ps
just spent $3,000 on repairs in march!!

like i say to everyone that complains about a crashed car... fix it yourself...
but since its not your fault, completely nag the insurance people until they think you are the biggest jackass in the world, because you are probably never going to see them again and you want your money's worth out of it.

and try to explain why 2 door 4Runners weren't made in 93.
(toyota says they didn't make them after 92)
just playing the devil's advocate here. make sure you have the answers when they ask.

anything can be fixed if you are so inclined.
if you have the space and there is anything worth salvaging i would buy it back from the insurance company and part out the rest. you should be able to buy it back for a few hundred bucks.

After you settle with the insurance company, take the driver of the other vehicle to small claims for the remainder. While the IC will have an agreement with the policy holder to pay only book for a vehicle. That does not mean that once you settle, you cannot go after the other driver for the remaining value of the vehicle. There is no contract between you and the other company or driver. The other driver took from you a possession of value. His insurance company covers a portion of the value, the policy holder is responsible for the rest. As an example, if you had a limit of 100k for damages and the damages were 150k, then you would be responsible for the remaining 50k.

thanks for the suggestions & support.
Hate to lose the 2 door!! 99% of the time it had the back seats down. What a nice configuration.
I did settle with insurance but didn't get what I wanted. Who does?
They want $400 for salvage.
It got hit right front, did a 360 over the curb & sidewalk, hit the guard rail (same place!), and popped back on the road. Tore off passenger wheel. Engine compartment/rad looked fine. Who can tell about frame.
I'm retired with no tools or room so can't part it out.
I might take a run to the yard to take a pic. It's about 50 miles.
thanks again

yeh, I've seen lots of '92 was the last year'. Seemed to me like an urban legend.
I 'm happy to help document 1993 as the last official year Toyota advertised and sold 2 door 4Runners.
As I've said I've the 93 sales brochure, and am burying a very nice DOCUMENTED 93, one owner, bought new.
I'm happy to pdf the brochure (has the full features & specifications) if anyone is collecting memorabilia.
