Crash in 91PU: What now?
So, had my first crash.
Hit a random patch of ice out of nowhere (was driving on dry road the whole night) at about midnight. Slid straight across a turn and hit a little Honda sedan head-on, about 30mph + their 20mph as they were about to turn into a driveway.
Got lucky and pretty much drove up their frontside. Skidplate and tires took most of the hit, but my IFS has suffered. Silverstars are both fine, blinkers and indi's are both shot looks like. Grill and pass-side fender took a little damage, hood got shoved back some, and one flat. Oh and my custom foglight mount I just fabbed is a total loss
So... Where to from here?
Never wrecked before, so what's the procedure?
It's a 91 PU 4x4 3vze
At the very least I'm going to be needing some IFS components. Anyone done a solid axle and have parts they could help a brother out with? Power steering needed to be rebuilt beforehand, and the AC has never worked. Guess now is the time to fix both of those?
I'll take and post pics once it's light out. I'll post the Honda too... Man I feel bad for that guy
(Pics added further down)

the procedure:
1) fill out accident report
2) contact your insurance agent. you slid into the other guy when you hit black ice. so you are liable.
3) pay your deductible
4) search for parts (this link has sources)
5) fix truck, get alignment
pretty straight forward.

Well I know that much...
Cops came and did their thing, got my rig towed back to my place.
As for insurance, I've got the econo-coverage package. So as far as I know right now, I'll be doing all of the work.
Hence, I'm asking for advice on the mechanical stuff.
Where do you start with this kind of front end damage?

agreed as above.....start assessing damage until you arrive at parts with no damage and make a list. any chance of any frame issue???
haunt EBAY and craigslist like i do and you may just find exactly what you are needing.
likewise, i do believe in the classifieds here, there is a WANTING TO BUY section (or not)....off the top of my head I can't think of any recent SAS jobs.....maybe "TINMAN"??....not very certain on that one.
or just call DEATHCOUGAR at NIX99 or go to www.nix99.com and see what they have

Took today as a "me day" haha
Sore as hell. Didn't really do much with the truck.
From just poking around though, looks like it's just steering and body damage.
Drove right up the front of him and all the action was happening under me... The way it should be haha. Score 1 for Yota on this one.

Nobody injured. I think we all got bent a little out of tune, but no broken legs/arms/faces.
As for the SAS, I don't really "wheel it" by Yotatech standards, so probably not worth the trouble for me right now.
I imagine there are more IFS parts available anyways that nobody wants after their SAS's. Might as well try to put them to good use.
I'm thinking I might just get another rig of the same vintage, 4runner or PU, and drive that for the time being. Anyone know of any for sale? Sub $3k range 5spd preferably.

The Yota doesn't look very bad. Put it up on jacks and start checking things. As others have said you can probably get all you need at a Pick-n-Pull place or junk yard.
The Honda on the other hand had it's ass handed to it. WOW.

Lol dude, your truck doesnt even look like it's messed up.
Pull the bumper, insspect the frame. If it's tweaked either spend the money to get it straightened, or get it aligned and keep driving..
A come-along will pull the core-support back into place.
And you can hand-bend the fenders without destroying the paint.
Hood, just take it off and bend it back into place on the ground..
Get a new set of front tires/wheels..
You won't spend more than 500 dollars fixing what looks to be minor damage.
Just start inspecting.
When i had my wreck we spent maybe 500 dollars for the tow, radiator, piece of square tubing for the front crossmember, and lights, and my truck was way worse off than yours.

Bad, bad news.
Kinked the frame behind the front suspension.
Guy quoted me $500 to tug it back into specs, IF he could get it that far.
Then I would still have to weld in a gusset, fix steering, fix body, and have alignment done...
I think this is the end for my baby, at least for the time being.
Frick...
So, who's got a rig they're selling? haha

Is this person someone you can trust?? That quoted you .
If you can get pics of the frame damage I am sure some of us have seen lots worse.
Were you able to see this damage yourself. Thing is if you can get an alignment to it tracks straight and doesn`t destroy front tires you will be ok
It all comes down to where your skills lie and how much money you want to spend.
It sounds like you are ready to throw in the towel . Which is your call .
I know with me I would end up spending no doubt 3 times what it was worth

I saw one guy on here who pulled his frame back with a tow strap, come along, and two trees. Can't remember who off the top of my head. Anyways there is always another way.

It was the owner of a local frame and body shop. He told me it wasn't really worth the trouble, and it would just end up costing a lot to end up "maybe driveable". I doubt he would turn away the business right now if he didn't really think it was a longshot.
For now I'm going to have to get a new rig just because of the timing and my schedule. This is my only rig.
Long run, I'm hoping to have him get it as close to spec as possible, and I'll weld in a little plate gusset over what's left of the kink.

PROGRESS!!
Finally got around to having my frame repaired. Guy here in Grass Valley got it pretty damn close.
As a testament to how buggered my frame was, it kinked behind the A-arm and came in far enough to break my clutch release cylinder off the tabs.
So I've got to replace that, the tube leading to it, get 'er aligned, and that should be it.
Anyone know someone parting a rig that might have a release (slave) cylinder or the tubing attached to it?
Just those two items are going to be $80 for Toyota spec'd parts, so my boys are really in a vise.
