Crankshaft stuck

Yesterday I was dIrving my 1994 toyota pickup 4x4 to work when all of the sudden it started to make loud knocking noise. I though the chainext had broke and had been flapping around inside but when I got it home and pulled the cover off everything was fine. I went to put the engine in TDC but it won't turn past a certin point so I went the other way and again won't crank past another point. It's almost like somethings stuck in the crankshaft. Has anyone had this problem? ?

Broken con rod?? broken crankshaft??? valve stuck open?? I'd look again very carefully at the timing chain and gears.

Whatever it is, it's not likely to be an inexpensive repair.

Could a spark plug of broken off and jammed a cylinder? Im just guessing here and throwing out ideas. You can get a cheap inspection camera and Harbor freight. So if you pull the plugs you could look inside of the cylinder.
This is from a bike forum but It could happen. What kind of plugs are you running?

I'm going to pull the head off in a few to see. Hopefully I can find an engine puller to pull it out so I can take a look at the bottom end.

Yup, pull head, if no valve problems, you get to proceed to rebuild!
