coolant leak at exhaust manifold

I have been searching all day and have found many threads on offenhauser intakes but none relating to these specific ports

just redid head on my 89 toy. po put an offenhauser intake with holley carb and hedman headers on it, he blocked off the big coolant port in the center of the head between 2 and 3 intake ports and the small hole towards the firewall drilled at an angle, when me and my dad were rebuilding he suggested plumbing those in.

I plumbed both ports into the pipe coming off the passenger side of the timing cover and now I have a coolant leak coming from the bottom of the exhaust manifold.

should those lines not be plumbed in this way or do I have more problems?
