cold start issue
I am having a hard to start when cold condition. I checked that there is NO voltage at the cold start injector and no voltage at the cold start switch.
But once warm the truck runs great no issue. Where does the injector and switch receive voltage and what tells it to be there? 22re

There should be a cold start injector "time switch" on the back of the engine that controls how long the cold start injector is on. Maybe this is your problem.
It would help to know what make and kind of engine you have.

Not sure if the 22RE and 3VZE have exactly the same controls, but...
My 3VZE FSM says the time switch (negative relay?) gets power from the ignition switch and the "start" signal from the ECM "STJ" port. The ignition positive also should be going to the cold start injector at the same time.
In the 3VZE FSM, the engine coolant temp sensor (also on the back of the engine at the driver side) may be helping to tell the ECM to send the cold start signal (-). Check it out also.
Either way, the time switch and injector should have power at all times if I am reading the diagram correctly. When testing, use the engine block as your ground when looking for power.

It only has power at the ecm connectors when in the start position. Using the test it says the ignition switch should be in run but in another manual it says only in the start position.
I tested the STJ and the E1 and only gets power in start position. But I get no volts at either the cold start switch nor the injector.
That is my question what turns the power on to the STJ when in the run only position because that seems to be the issue. I tested out the switch and the injector and all good.

I see the discrepancy between the two manuals. I don't know what to make of it. I would check your coolant temp sensor, because it may be what tells the cold start injector to work or not (via the ECM).

Then why would it have a cold start switch? I assumed it was to turn on or off the cold start injector.
I have found that there should be voltage at both the cold start injector and switch. the ECU controls the ground and that is what activates them. But I dont have any voltage at them so I am stumped.

Fixed it. It was the ignition switch. The part that is connected to the back of it. I got one from JY and replaced it. I cracked it open and took a look. One of the little springs had gotten sideways and was pushing up and way from the copper disk of the contacts.
