I just installed a cold air intake mod, kinda like the famous ISR, to my 3VZE. It's being kinda funny.

Mostly I notice a noise that sounds like two metallic discs rubbing against one another - or like ceramic plates rubbing on one another - a constant mid-to-high metallic rubbing noise coming from the air intake.

Also, it's really cold in Chicago, is this why I have an engine code popping since I've installed this thing? It happens randomly, and when I restart the engine the code disappears. I'll have to check the computer in the morning.

A better description for the noise - sounds like bad bearings rubbing.

Are you sure the intake you installed isn`t rubbing on anything causing the noise ?. Did you disconnect the battery to reset the computer after you installed the intake ?, if not that could be why your getting a code. With the new intake you have added more flow, so the computer has to make adjustments for it.

I had this happen on my yota. Ended up having to spend like 300 on new muffler bearings.

Bahahaha. But in all seriousness.
Could be the increased amount of oxygen in the system has uhhh.. made the sensors.. overload

I'll check it all in the light tomorrow afternoon...also reset the computer.

OK found out that the code was code 52 - which is nutty, because I just fixed the knock sensor wiring issue. Anyway, I re-configured all the cold intake tubing, braced the MAF (which was previously held by the air intake tubes...it was too wobbly!), pulled the EFI fuse and battery ground for a few minutes (reset the computer), then reset my timing with the computer jumped (set to 12*) and it's all workin' nice and well now!
