Code 52: 89 22RE

I have an 89 pickup with a 22-re engine and am having the dreaded knock sensor problem. I have rewired the sensor to the ECU with shielded cable, grounded both ends of the shielding and soldered all joints. It still throws a code 52 after it warms up and little and the engine speed reaches a certain value. I have looked at the signal reaching the ECU on an oscilloscope so now I need someone who would be willing to do the same on the same engine and describe what they see with the engine at idle. I have been unable to find this signal anywhere and this should tell me if the sensor is working. You would be a lifesaver if you can do this! Thanks, Dave

Turn ignition switch off. Short TE1 and E1 in the little box next to the fuse box in the engine compartment with a paper clip. Turn the ignition on (don't start) and the check engine will start flashing the codes. This is for a 22RE. Dave

Do a little research or download the FSM for your truck!
