Code 41/52 3VZe

Hello, again. This code just doesnt want to leave. I've replaced the knock sensor in the block, and ran a new wire. Now, I sporadically get code 41/52, which I think is the TPS. Is this correct? How can I fix this? I think it is running rich, is it just adjustment of a screw? Thanks!

Code 41 is a short/open in the TPS circuit. http://web.archive.org/web/201211190...85diagnosi.pdf Use your multimeter the check the TPS http://web.archive.org/web/201108151...93throttle.pdf , but don't forget that the code is telling you there is a problem in the circuit, not just the sensor. You might need to trace some wires back to the ECM, and wiggle them while on the ohmmeter.

If you have a bad problem with your TPS, it can cause the ECM to drop out of closed-loop, and depending on a lot of factors can result in a rich condition. As a practical matter, it is very hard to end up with a rich condition in closed-loop; that's why you have an O2 sensor and fuel injectors. And no, you can't change the mixture with an adjustment of a screw on a fuel injected engine. You haven't be able to do that since, what, the early 80s?

Code 52 can be very hard to clear up; I'd try to get your code 41 out of the way first.

Ok, good idea. I'll check the connector on the TPS. I've felt I've done everything to clear code 52. Its sporadic, and frustrating, since I've replaced everything thats gone wrong.

Ok! I've replaced the TPS, made sure it was seated right, and the darn thing is still throwing. I guess its a dirty/broken connection somewhere. Something I don't understand: it only does it from a full stop, when I'm driving it never comes on.

Was the TPS bad? Or were you just hoping it was the TPS itself?

The TPS was already having issues, and I was hoping that it would be fixed by replacement. I was told I COULDNT adjust the TPS.
I checked all of the wires, but nothing stands out to me..

i've cleared the codes, but I might try again. I had the battery disconnected for 3 days, but that was before the code 41...
