1993 4x4 manual 22RE 180,000 miles

So, it is time to replace my clutch and I found some useful videos and tips on this forum and youtube. I am looking for some answers to a few questions before I proceed (little anxious)

1) Do I need to lift the vehicle? I have 31 inch tires and quite a bit of room underneath but I am hearing mixed opinions on this.

2) I purchased Marlin's HD kit but not the flywheel as they actually told me to have mine resurfaced. I have a reputable machine shop in town but do i need to provide them specs or is this something they should already know?

3) Replace the rear main or not to? The general consensus that I am finding is that if it is not leaking...don't replace.

4) Any good writeups or videos on this? I found a really useful video for an 1988 truck but I understand some things are different for a 93. It would be nice to have a writeup or video specifically for a 93. Chiltons and Haynes are worthless. I have both and they are equally ambiguous.

Thanks and I appreciate any tips, tricks, or gotchas. I am thinking of recording my experience but I am not sure how in-demand that would be.

2) Should be a very standard operation for a machine shop that does flywheels
3) Replace it. Check for grooves on the crank sealing surface. Might need a speedi-sleeve.

As for raising the truck it depends on if you fit under the truck and can move.

I always replace flywheels as they want more than 1/2 the cost of a new one to face it off.

rear main seal to each there own If it does not leak I don`t mess with it.

We all have the tricks we have learned.

You can do this yourself but I would get help if possible.

I just did my 89 and had plenty of room under it without lifting...

Get a transmission jack and save yourself a ton of cussing and hassle. I used the video on youtube as reference as well and everything was pretty much the same except the throwout bearing was one peace and you didn't have to separate it like he does in the video. I got the harbor freight jack for like $67 after the 20% off coupon and it worked great.

I had issues lining it back up by myself when putting the tranny back in. Get a friend to help and take the rubber boot off the clutch fork and peak in that hole to help you line and center everything up.The guy in the video blocks the engine up with a piece of wood to keep it from moving but this part is unnecessary...
