Question Charging troubles

I have a 1993 toyota pick up with a 22re 5spd. I am having trouble getting it to charge. I took the alternator in to have it tested and it test fine, but on the truck it only reads 12.6 volts at the battery. If I unplug the alternator connection, My little volt meter will read 13.7 volts, but if I plug it back into the truck and test through the wires, it drops to 12.6 on the truck side of the plug. Any Ideas?? Thanks
