If the Cat is red hot you have an over fueling or misfire problem. Better get that figured out before you meltdown an expensive Cat.

sounds like the cat is plugged check out www.hottexhaust.com they got some universal ones for under $70 shipped

anyone ever tried one of these eBay Cat's?
The price seems right, and their a straight through design, which is what I'm looking for. So, anyone?

a bad o2 sensor can cause a rich situation, bad injectors, (I assume it is FI)

89 DLX xtra cab 4x4 22re Auto with 210,000, 225 75R 15, Stock except, "new" 2000 toyota cd/radio, rear speakers hidden in the back seat, SR5 instrument cluster, factory clock. dead aftermarket cruise and some matching blue door pockets! New timing chain with Engine builders front end rebuild kit. Tokico RT trekmaster shocks <-like them. I found the turtle in my yard, after mowing over it and it was fine! Old toyota trucks are like turtles: slow, steady and durable. |

Could possibly be the cold start injector sticking open, might check that also.

when my cat ran red hot it was because the comb came apart and was sideways blocking flow..
long screw driver and a hammer took care of it till I got a new system in i got mine done at a shop... but I have a new magnaflow cat 2 inch I can sell for $45 Last edited by Outsane; 12-14-2006 at 08:47 PM. |
