IMHO, kits you can buy complete are waay too expensive. I'm not sure where you are, or what your local shop/money situation is, but I''ve always gotten more quality for my money with a local shop, AND They've always made it exactly like I wanted (exit, size, muffler choices). Just my .02

I've never heard anything positive about Pacesetter. In my younger and more naive days I installed one on my Honda Accord, and it was rusted from the inside out within a year (in Montana). Now they may have improved their design/materials, but I'd be wary. If I remember correctly, I paid $220 at a local shop for a 2.5" cat back with a nice flow-through muffler last year, and it was great. I guess I should ask if you're going for looks or function, or a little of both. I just decided to make mine turn down and exit right behind the rear axle, so it's mostly out of sight, and sounds better.

not too concerned with looks, its mostly under the truck so I am not worried. Simple and cheap with good flow, I want better than the crap that is one there now. I got this rinky little muffler with bad flow.

start calling local muffler shops and price out a cat back for your truck. i just got mine done 2 weeks ago for $194.86 out the door. included 2 1/4 pipe, flowmaster 50 series muffler and tip. would have been a little cheaper if i would have done a turn down. they also flanged it so i can remove it if i need to.

nice, I would love a flow master but heck if I could get something better than the coffee can on there now I would be happy. Its a daily driver that I occasionally take off road, I use it alot to haul my quad from place to place as well.

the glasspack is nice. it can kinda get a little wicky, like a ricer exhaust, but compared to the stock muff its deeper and sounds more like a truck. most of the time. u get up to real high revs and it gets nice and loud, with a bit of attitude. low rpms its intense though. i love cruisin through my hood at 20mph in 5th. hehehe. just for the rumble

I have the Downey 2.5" cat and catback - got it for 250 shipped from autopartswarehouse.com - they were doing free shipping.

Install is "ok" - I have 2 problems with it -
1. Loss of spare tire(maybe its just me, but i spent 6 hours bending and fanagling those pipes around and nothing made room - so away went the tire.

2. the crossover pipe(if you have headers) is too low for a 4wd truck - mine is only 2 wheel drive so it doesnt bother me.

3. muffler sounds kinda "wet-fartish" -- Please note that I do not like glass packs or flowmaster 40's or 50's (I think they sound wet-fartish as well) -- On a v6 anyways.

Well I guess I had 3 complaints - I have the Y pipe where the x-over and the driver side header(also downey) come together welded. The rest is clamped with no leaks

Get a custom one bent up at a local muffler shop.
I had mine done with a magnaflow cat and a cheepo glasspack, also changed the pipe size to 2.25"
Freed up a lil power and sounds much better (quite loud though )

I bought OEM from the dealer; complete one piece cat-back was $128.00. I bought the rubber hangers & hardware from NAPA for @ $50 total. So for $178 I got all new exhaust from cat-back with new hangers/rubber. It sounds great, too. I think it sounds MUCH better than the "high performance" systems....

I am going to take it to a shop tomorrow and see what they can do for me. I need it now, my "fitting" for my 02 sensor behind the cat just popped off today too. I hate rust.

I had mine done with a Flowmaster 40 Series for $125. Thats right, $125. From the Headers back, not just a cat back. The shop used a returned muffler that was used for about 1 month, so i got a helluva deal. Sounds bitchin.
