Just a couple of points regarding Carfax.

The only thing that a Carfax report can tell you for sure is if there is a report, accident, etc.
If there is an incident shown on the Carfax report for the vehicle you can be sure that it happened, HOWEVER if there is NO incidents on report that does NOT mean that the vehicle is fine.

Carfax only shows reports for states that report and a lot of them don't.
Arizona, for one, does not report.

There is a current class action lawsuit pending against Carfax because of reported incidents.

Also, if you get into an accident and never report it (fix out of own pocket) you are out of luck as carfax goes.

Your best bet would be to take it to get an inspection by a certified shop.
