Carb Problems
Gah... The dreaded carburetor.
Anyways, heres my problems.
Recently, within the last month, my pickup was having some serious issues with off idle take-off and off-idle rpm raise. When i go from idle, and press the gas, i have to slightly feather it in order to get it through the rpm slump, as i'm calling it.
For some reason, it wants to get darn near close to dieing when i even press the gas slightly, and it'll cut-out when it's too cold out.
This problem doesn't exist when the choke is on, and i can drive a few blocks in the morning with the choke on, then when it kicks off it'll miss hard when i'm in 3rd and 4th at a certain rpm (no tach here), until it gets warm.
I'm thinking this is a fuel delivery issue?
But the weirdest part is that when the truck is shut down hot, then started back up hot (with no problems at all), the problem disappears. I'll have no problems at all after a hot restart.
tl;dr:
- Truck hesitates when coming off idle rpm, regardless of whether under load
or not.
- Doesn't hesitate when choke is engaged.
- Misses when cold at an unknown rpm, lets say half throttle by the ol' foot
tachometer, in 3rd and 4th.
- And the problem disappears after a hot restart
I have a fuel filter in my truck that hasn't been installed yet, i keep forgetting and i fill up my tank at every re-fill..
