yesterday i was on here and i found a web site that had diff breather kits on it. the kit came with like a shock boot that goes over the breather so that it could be under water and not suck in water. does anyone know what im talking about? also, does it sound like a good idea?

yea soudns great.. i think you mean www.4crawler.com or the kit from wwabfab.org or trail-gear.com. there is threads on here how to make your own... using a part from nissian and some hose

Just go get the rear fitting you need, some hose and a fuel filter. Tuck it up somewhere dry and you're done... cheap and easy.

Nissan breather fits perfectly into the threads that our stock Toyota breathers use. The Nissan part number is 38323-C6010

That's a good write up. The Sonoran link I posted has all the possible parts that can be used including the Nissan part. I like the combo of these 2:

because with one being 5/16 and the other 3/8 (6/16) you can use 5/16 hose and get a nice tight fit at the diff and stay all Toyota. Also, the thing I did differently from the write up, was to run the rear breather up to my gas tank filler neck so I could see in the side view mirror where the breather is in relation to the water line. (of course I've never been that deep yet)

you dont need that crap. just get some universal poly hose at your parts store and barbed fittings. run them up somewhere dry your good to go.

sweet. i kinda like that kit trail gear has. i think it makes me feel better than just having the breather up higher where water can still get in there
