can't control idle on 22re, goes to 6000rmp @ start-up

i have searched for two days for on-lines answers and asked a full group of 22re/toyota people before posting this

i have an 1986 4runner with a 22re, with 300k miles (i replaced the engine @ 276k miles). i bought the truck when it had abput 220k miles and the vacume configuration was not exactly correct nor was the wiring harnes perfect (missing 2 sensors). the truck has been great. the idle acted as it should for much of its life, then the original throtle body started to form a ridge where the butterfly valve sat. i was trouble shooting and was trying to calibrate the tps sensor was unable at the time so i got another throtle body with orinal tps attached. i installed this tps and the problem was solved for a while. more recently my idle became irratic it would jump between two extreems too high and too low. i replaced my vacume lines in hopes this would help my idle, i also discovered that i was missing an adjustment screw on the throtle body.

i drove the truck and with in the last week of driving the idle has acted very strange. i would usually adjust the idle at start-up then begin driving, but after shifting out of any gear the idle would try and stay around 2k -3k rpm, even if you did not try and find another gear and left the trans in N the RPM would stay around 2500 and rarly slowly return to my set adjustment. the way to solve the problem otherwise was to shut the truck off and restart, then it would sit at a normal idle. i think this is really odd because i cannot get it to reperduce the high rmp by playing with the throtle.

i consulted my local 22re experet, who thought he could fix the problem by calibrating the throtle body so i removed it and he did. i replace the throtle body and upon start-up the RPM's went through the roof, i immedetly turned the truck off. i went to the yard again and got annother throtle body, but when i intalled it i got the same result. the rpm's shoot up around 6000 immedatly

thanks for any help i can get
sorry for the spelling errors

I had a similar thing happen, it was a sticky throttle cable.
