Camshaft Oil Seals Direction

Camshaft Oil Seals Direction
The is probably a stupid question, but which direction do the cam seals go: flat side in or flat side facing out towards the pulley.
I'm in the middle of replacing my head gaskets and I've done a pretty good job of labling and taking pictures, but I failed to take note of the cam seals before taking the heads to the shop.
From the taper inside the seal, is seems like it should go flat side in, so that the bigger inside-diameter faces inward.

Flat side out. If you have Toyota seals they will have very small writing on the side that face out.
Flat side out on the crank seal also.

Thanks guys! Flat side out it is. That makes sense. It was just the taper in the center that threw me off.
Razed - I probably should have mentioned that I've got a 94' 2wd pickup with the 3VZE. These seals go on the front ends of the camshafts and slide into groves in the head and two front bearing caps.
