A/C Tensioner Pulley 89 4Runner 22RE
I've been to hell and back and still have found no answer. I'm trying to find a new pulley to replace my seized a/c idler (tensioner) pulley. The bearing cannot be pressed out of the pulley so I can't see any part numbers for it. I went to Napa and tried the 38036 pulley but the inner diameter of the bearing is too big. I checked online and other people recommended a 204 or a 203 bearing and the 204 is too big and the 203 is too small?! Does anyone know of a part number/supplier for this pulley? Surely someone has replaced this thing before. All the information I can find is for the power steering idler pulley.

Maybe I have a different pulley than I am supposed to. My pulley has a non-serviceable bearing in it that cannot be pressed out. Are the other A/C pulleys out there serviceable?

Well I went to the parts stores and they all tried to sell me the same part and they were all not the right size. Most of them show the 38036 as the right pulley but it is too large. I ended up giving the dealership a call and was able to get the OEM part for around $26 after tax and it came with the bolt and spacers. Part number was 88440-35030. You can find it online at several toyota parts dealers and it looked like ebay even had them. I have shown the pictures below for your reference.

Yeah I probably need to start checking there first and see how bad the cost actually is. They have saved me many a times...a lot of those aftermarket parts are close, but not quite. I had a similar experience with fuel injector seals...gotta go dealer!
