Buying a new engine, help.

Hey guys and gals, some guy contacted me from my online wanted ad and says this

"hey i have a 22 re, it was converted to carb butits so easy to convert back, i need to sell whole runner minus the cab, cab im using for a project but i have 22re, 5 speed, good cluth, good t case, driveshafts and good rear diff, the front is ifs so its garbage but ill sell all for 400$ asap, i need it gone,"

Now, 400$ for all that seems really really low. I have no idea how many km's are on it, but i asked him that in the replyed email. Im just trying to think how come so cheap for all these parts? Something sounds to fishy. Plus how hard is it to swap the engine back to efi? My current engine is a efi so i guess i have all the parts. Should i go take a look at it? if so what should i lookout for? what things would you guys look for while looking at the engine?

Thanks alot guys!!

if the engine is a 22re, and you're truck is a 22re, the only thing involved in the swap is the longblock assembly (head and block)... your existing intake, exhaust, distributor, etc., will be used to bolt to the donor engine.

personally, I'd go look, and get the vin off the cab (if it's still there) and the chassis serial, and call the motor vehicle department (or whatever it's called there) to check that the vin hasn't been reported stolen. if it's clear, a rolling chassis minus cab is worth more than 400 in parts, even more as a whole.

you might have enough of the right parts to do a dual transfer case...
then sell the rest off as spare parts.... or maybe make a dual rear axle (think semi-trucks)
