To buy a used clutch or not???
So, I have found this used clutch on a local listing for $75. It is supposedly a LUK clutch. And supposed to only have about 8k miles on it. Is there a way to measure the friction plate with a set of calipers to know how worn out this thing is? Is it even worth looking at? Doesn't come with the Pilot bearing or the throw out bearing. What are your thoughts?

i would ask for pictues, if it is in new condition why not a clutch will last alot longer than 8k. i would check it out first and make a decision then. maybe go to napa or autozone and measure the disc thickness then compare

I say never. I have gotten to the point that I can remove and replace the tranny in about 2 hours by my lonesome but I have a removable center floorpan due to dual cases with twin sticks, but it still sucks everytime.

I do love the underwear comparison, but can someone provide a specific cheap clutch part or kit to buy? I checked out MarlinCrawler's site. There are a lot of options. I need a cheap replacement kit for a 90 4runner.

Considering how important a clutch is, is it really something you want to cheap out on that badly? Rockauto.com starts at $85 for the cheapo Rhinopak kit that comes with parts of unknown quality whereas they sell the Aisin kit (OEM) for $130. Is saving $50 really worth getting mystery parts? http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/rafr...&parttype=1993 (wait for page to load and it will take you to the clutches)
