Broken exhaust pipe.

Found out my down pipe broke off at the flange to the cat. What would the most cost effective fix be? Just a new down pipe or is there a way to attach a new flange?

oops should have searched first... looks like I'll just get it welded. But a new exhaust doesn't sound like a bad idea either

I see a very valuable cat take that thing to a metal recycler and collect lots of cash (before someone steals it), then go to the muffler shop and have a cheap one welded on. You'll likely not be out any money or close to it (unless you live in Commyfornia)

yeah that's maybe a $20 fix at a muffler shop

all they'd have to do is unbolt the cat and move it out of the way, clean up the flange and the pipe right there, and run a bead around it, and it'll be good to go

why did it break? just old, or not hung properly? look so you can be informed before going to exhaust shop, have them add extra hangers if necessary

Well I replaced my exhaust gasket and it must have broke loose from moving the down pipe around.

Those old ones have lots of precious metals in them. I sold one just like that for $140 a few years ago.
