break lamp help

hey yall, so i noticed the other day when i was pulling my truck out of the mud that when my buddy stepped on the breaks(with running lights on) my driver side break lamp went out. so i replaced the bulb had him step on the breaks and it lit up like it was supposed to(with running lights off) that night i was at the store and i was waiting out front stepped on the breaks and the light went out again. so heres the deal My light lights up like its supposed to with the running lights off but with the running lights on and i step on the breaks it just turns off like the second filament isnt lighting up. i checked the connector at the light and all that good stuff and i dont get it, the passenger light works fine. the first thing i thought is it could have been the mud packed in my 4 pin trailer connector but cleaning that didnt help at all

thanks for the help

Gah its lil things like this thats making me wanna buy a new truck.

Sounds to me like a ground to me, you been in a collision with the rear ever?

Have you tried changing to a new bulb?

Here are the FSM pages for the stoplight circuit http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/1990-1995...i/stopligh.pdf

This too
