Brakes are hard and blew through a stop sign

Help! After doing research it looks like the brake booster check valve. Anyone know where I can get one besides the dealership? Is this the kind of part I can get at Autozone?

Any check-valve made for brake-booster service should work fine as long as the hose joints are the right size to fit tightly.

Autozone might be able to find something that will work.

It's probably the brake booster itself

Would agree. Unless the check valve exploded and leaks to atmosphere.

the op didn't say what tests they have done, or give vehicle specs, so it's all just guessing..

Thanks for responding guys. I performed the test where I pump the brakes and keep my foot on the brake as I fire up the car. The pedal drops.
I will pull off the valve this afternoon and blow both ways.

Not sure if it matters..
1994 4runner with om617 engine. The vacuum is supplied by the engine's pump but the booster/braking system is stock 4runner v6 4x4.

thanks
