Brake pins.....

I'm in the middle of installing new front drive axles, bearings, and my Aisin hubs. Already got the driver's side done, and put back 2gether. I've started the passenger side, and noticed that I only had 1 brake pad retainer pin. Can I buy 1 at Vatozone or Napa? Kinda hoping I don't have to go to the stealership.

The pin I'm referring to, goes thru the caliper, and holds the pad in place.

Thanks all

Saw them at Autozone last time I did a change, though I didn't need 'em at the time. Give them a call.

I'm sure you can. I did the same front end work a few months ago. I bought new calipers and they came with new pins. So the should have some. If not a junkyard will.

I actually had some round steel stock laying around (the kind you find at the end of a chain link fence) and presto!.

You could probably just make one for cheap- they just locate the pads while the calipers aren't squeezing.

BUT... they probably aren't too expensive at the stealership. The part number is 477488. http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_U_199...MSEA_4705.html

Thanks for the part number Matt. The only reason I didn't wanna go that route was my nearest stealership is like 75 miles away......

My new calipers just came with new pins, if you can hold out, send me your address and I'll mail you the old pins.

Unless you're good at fabrication, I'd be leary of making my own. What if the pad doesn't slide correctly 'cause the pin isn't straight, or the right diameter (binds up)? I'd take Matt up on his offer. I don't mess with brakes...

I got 4 at the dealership and they were only $1-2 each if I remember correctly. My local Advance did not have them.

I just went thorough this too. My local advance didin't have them, nor do they have them available to order. Autozone does carry them, $8:
Part number: H15045
