brake light disaster

my 94 pickup 22re was blowing fuses every time i pushed the brakes. i searched for a bad short or ground mainly in the light housing and under the bed. eventually i put a 30 amp fuse in the 15 stop light fuse, it worked and i switched back to a 15. still worked so i drove it. the fuse box caught on fire while driving so i took it home and changed fuse boxes.after an easy swap i checked the light only to find them constantly lit. so digging deeper i inspected my stop light switch to find the two wires coming from it were broken and stripped from heat. inspecting the main harness above i find only burn damage to the stop light wire (green), which seemed to not have been connected to the stop light switch because it was still connected to itself seemingly bypassing the switch altogether. anyways i cant even find the mating wires to my stop light switch. my question is are there two wires that hook up to the stop light switch or is it just one circuit through the switch? ive tested the one circuit idea but it just melted the fuse without breaking it! does anyone know the wiring harness really well? also when i plug the fuse in voltage comes from the fuse box towards the passenger side through the one exposed green wire within the burned section of the harness.
any help greatly appreciated. thanks
