Body Swap from an 88 4Runner to a 87 Frame

So heres the deal, i Rolled an 87 4Runner a while back and the frame is straight, I wrecked the 88 i bought to replace it but only slightly damaged the body, most of the damage ocured in the passenger side suspension and frame which was considerably bent and would cost more to fix than its worth. My idea is to swap the body from the 88 to the 87 as long as all the wiring is the same and i dont have to do much fabrication. Ayone know that information about the two years and if they would be compatible or has anyone done a project like this? Any tips or recomendations will be appreciated... Craig

what the hell are you doing to wreck these trucks? damn man, slow down or buy a car!

in the last few days there was a thread of someone doing a complete frame swap. look it up for an idea of what you're getting into.

As long as both had the same motor and tranny everything will be direct swap. Unless, one was a DLX model and the other an SR5. There will be some dash wiring differences. But, it would all still be doable without any fabrication.

87 is an SR5 and 88 is DLX. Both have the 22RE and the 5 Speed Manual Transmission.
